Karleen Reidy, 84, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2017 at her home surrounded by her children.

She was born in Blackford County on March 19, 1933 to Herbert and Diamond (Overmyer) O'Connell and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1951. Karleen graduated from St. Vincent's School of Nursing and worked at Blackford County Hospital. In later years she also worked at J. C. Penney's.

She married George Reidy February 12, 1955 in St. John's Catholic Church, Hartford City.

Karleen was well-known for her crafts and sewing and participated in many craft shows including St. John's Bazaars. She loved to look at the flowers planted by her children and grandchildren along her driveway.

She is survived by eight children, Michael P. (Carma) Reidy, Pete (Ruth) Reidy, Tom (Vicky) Reidy, Dave (Graciela) Reidy, Chris (Mary Jo) Reidy, Colleen (Greg) Dickey, Maureen (Todd Guyer) Reidy and Helen (Jon) Kelley, a foster son, Mark Benedict, 29 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a brother, Patrick (Jeanine ) O' Connell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, a grandson, Duncan, brothers and sisters, William, Richard, and Fred O'Connell and Jeanette Pollard and Bette Harrison.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 in St. John's Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City with Fr Dave Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 3 - 7 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St. Hartford City and on Friday, November 3 from 9:30 -10:30 a.m.

The Christian Wake Service will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, November 2 in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in the form of Masses to the church.
