John Ray Stevenson

HARTFORD CITY, IN—

John Ray Stevenson, 37, passed away early Friday morning, July 15, 2022 at his residence.

He was born on February 20, 1985 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Jody (Nottingham) and John Walker Stevenson, Jr.

John grew-up and attended schools in Blackford County. He formerly worked for Indiana Veneer and more recently, part-time at the Hartford City Cemetery, in groundskeeping.

He loved working on cars, admiring his status of "motorhead" at a very young age.  He enjoyed mudding/4-wheeling, Xbox and especially enjoyed music and helping people.

He will be sadly missed by his mother and step-father, Jody & Greg Lugar; his father, John Walker Stevenson, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Judy Futrell and paternal grandparents, John Walker (Madge) Stevenson, Sr.; step-sister, Dianne Bell; step-grandmother, Cathy Nottingham and companion, Betty Gillespie.  Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by: his maternal grandfather: Ray J. Nottingham, Jr.; brother, Marc Kody Bell; sister, Krystle Bell; step-brother, William Russell "Rusty" McDonald, Jr.; step-grandmother, Pauline Lugar; great-grandparents: Mary Taylor and Robert "Bob" Futrell and great-great-grandmother, Lillian Baker.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 22nd, in the Hartford City Cemetery.   Viewing and visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. Friday, at Waters Funeral Home, Hartford City.
