John R. Nuckols, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 20, 2018 at his home.

John was born in the winter of 1949 in Hartford City, Indiana to Edward and Irma (Crawford) Nuckols. He was a 1968 graduate of Dunkirk High School and would go on to earn his bachelors degree from Ball State University.

John worked many places early in life to include: Hartford City Packing, Hartford Concrete and Kerr Glass. He would also farm as well. John settled in at 3M in Hartford City, working there for 22 years, retiring in July of 2018.

He was a man that could fix anything. John was a talented welder and loved his Jeeps.

John will be missed by his sons, Mike Nuckols (Mary Ann) and Mary Ann's son, Christopher, and Tom Nuckols; Elaine Arnold and her daughters, Trista Kikendall (Ryan) and Dawn Arnold (Ryan); his mother, Irma Nuckols; a sister Jenny Ridgway; as well as Trista's children: Brayton Myrick, Keeleigh Kikendall, Kade Kikendall and Karter Kikendall; Dawn's children, Olivia Smith and Quentin Smith; niece, Kristie Ridgway (Jacob); nephew, Greg Griffin and great-niece, Gracie Griffin.

John was preceded in death by his father Edward Nuckols and a brother-in-law, Ron Ridgway.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Claycomb Cemetery, Dunkirk.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
