Obituary

Jim Lloyd

September 13, 1970-August 28, 2018

Jim is the son of Jane Ann Hoffman, grandson of Kenneth & Mary Hoffman, brother of Janie Velasquez, husband of Vivian Lloyd. He graduated from Blackford High School and went on to graduate from Ball State with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. This is when his life began as he moved to Chicago. He worked at a hardware store as he was getting his foothold and start to his professional career. He met the love of his life, Vivian, and from that moment forward their love was unstoppable. They have been together sharing trials, adventures, discoveries, love, growth and families.

His greatest passion was printmaking. He was prolific, constantly using life's moments and trials to create. He created a book of life's views based on what was going on around him, what he'd been through or what others had been through. His art was a reflection of his perceptions on changes in the world, his community, family, friends and by far his great imagination. Jim read volumes and was ravenous about learning. He never stopped learning.

His art work has been seen, shared and shown around the world. He has been in many juried shows. Print trades and his great love lead him to open his home studio to teach and mentor others.

Besides being a mentor to learning and fellow artists, he was a mentor to his friends and colleagues. He would encourage those around him to be the best they could be, to not settle and not stop learning. He never stopped being a giver. He shared his knowledge, love, encouragement, opinion and time.

Jim was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend, artist, athlete, student, husband, uncle, brother-in-law, inventor, father, grandfather, mentor, tutor, guidance counselor, listener, teacher, librarian, guardian and a giver. No one was homeless, hopeless or hungry if Jim was in their life.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Jane Ann Hoffman, grandmother, Mary Ellen Hoffman, grandfather, Kenneth Hoffman, aunts, Ada Hoffman, Patricia Hoffman, Mary Jean, Mathews, Harriett Lapham, Sue Smith and uncles Daniel Haney, Robert Smith and Robert Lapham.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Vivian Lloyd, his daughter, JeongMee MokMorrison, his grandson, Riley Jaxson Linder, his nephew, Josh Linder, his sister, Janie Velasquez, brother-in-law, Bob Velasquez and his niece, Andrea Velasquez. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins who all met this summer and made wonderful memories that he treasured. Our lives will never be the same.
