James D. Dolan, 93, passed away October 1, 2017 at Westminster Village, Muncie.
He was born in Hartford City on December 26, 1923 to Jack and Mary (Hummer) Dolan. Jim graduated from Hartford City High School in 1942 and attended Indiana University. In 1943 he joined the Army Air Corps serving 60 missions with the 312th Bomb group.
On September 28, 1947 Jim married Molly Fulton in the First Presbyterian Church. They lived in Hartford City, Okmulgee, Oklahoma from 1955 to 1964, returning to Hartford City where he resided until moving to Muncie.
He was employed as vice president of Fulton Glass Company and had served on the Hartford City Common Council and Board of Public Works during the Dave Bennett administration. He also had served as Blackford County Veteran Affairs Officer, member of Hartford City Economic Development Commission, and a member of the Hartford City Building Authority. He also served as Doorkeeper of Indiana House of Representatives.
Jim was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Life Member of American Legion Post #159, past president of Blackford Golf Club, and board of directors of Minnestrista Cultural Center. He will be deeply missed by his daughters Cindy (Ron) McMillin, Columbus, IN, Nancy (Tom) Rea, Bothell, Washington and Janie (John) Westermeier, Carmel; grandchildren, Katie (Derick) Olson, David (Lexi) McMillin, Jimmy and Patrick Westermeier; great-grandchildren, Molly and David Olson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Molly, and his brother, Jack.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St. Hartford City with Rev. Susan Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery with military rites by Delaware County Veterans Organization.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday, October 6 and 9:30 -10:30 Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Waters Funeral Home.
