George W. Adkins, Jr., 62, passed away Tuesday evening, October 23, 2018 at his home of natural causes.
He was born in Hartford City on February 15, 1956, the fourth of five children, to George W. Adkins, Sr., and Goldie Maxine (Hall) Adkins, attended schools in Hartford City and had attended the Apostolic Tabernacle.
George was employed for several years at Overhead Door Corp. in Hartford City until its closing and had retired in January of this year from Ardaugh Corp after several years of employment.
Survivors include his wife, Julie A. (Bedwell), a son, George Adkins III (Jennifer), daughters, Amber Helland (Lee), Sandra "Sandy" Bowlan (Kortney); sisters, Kathie Reese (Charles) and Janet Lytle (James); one brother, John E. Adkins (Michelle); six grandchildren, Kaleb McDaniel, Brooklyn Adkins, Tabby Adkins, George Adkins IV, Justin Helland, Kenaan Bowlan and a 7th grandchild, Kathryn Bowlan, due Dec. 2018, as well as a brother-in-law, Larry J. Berry.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Geral Berry and a granddaughter, Emilee Helland.
Services for George will be at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, October 28th in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with his nephew, Pastor Larry W. Berry presiding. Burial will be at Hartford City Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, October 27th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and an hour before the service on Sunday.
