Eugene H. "Gene" Garrison

HARTFORD CITY, IN—

Eugene H. "Gene" Garrison, 71, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024 at his home, of natural causes.

Born on July 22, 1952, in Hartford City, he was one of five children born to Rex H. and Thelma P. (Edgell) Garrison and graduated from Blackford High School, class of 1970.

Gene began working at the 3M Company of Hartford City, in the maintenance department.  He then worked at Red Gold in Orestes before retiring.  His greatest passion was farming, specializing in beef livestock.

Family was most important to Gene; faithfully attending his grandkids' sporting events.  He enjoyed basketball, family lake week; fish frys and other cooking events at the Elks Lodge, in Hartford City, where he made many friends over the years.

Gene was an avid collector of toy tractors, as well as full-scale, Farm-All and Ford tractors.

He leaves behind two step-sons:  Chad Bennett (Chasity) and their children:  Catelynn and Carson Bennett; Jody Linn and his daughter, Courtney Joy Linn; One sister, Brenda K. Reeder of Angola and Joe (Cindy) Garrison of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Janice Garrison of Fremont.  Additionally, nieces and nephews:  David Garrison, Aimee LaMartz, Jason Garrison, Ashley Nicole Garrison and Lindsey Myers.  Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

His father precedes him in death on Dec. 2, 1984; his mother on Oct. 2, 1996.  One brother, Jerry Rex Garrison and a sister, Joy Jeanine Wasson, also precedes him.

Visitation and viewing will be on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.  at the Hartford City Elks Lodge, 3104 N. Walnut St., Hartford City.  Cremation will be held following the visitation.
