Donnie D. Whitesell, Sr., 80, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his home after an extended illness.

Born in Blackford County on July 8, 1937 he was the son of George W. Whitesell, Sr. and Marie (Flatter) Whitesell. He attended Hartford City High School and served in the Navy.

On June 30, 1956 he married Martha Ellen Norman in Yadkinville, North Carolina.

Donnie, "Whitey" or "Dee", as he was also known, worked at Delco Remy for 30 years. He was a member of U.A.W. and a former member of DAV, Hartford City.

Survivors include his wife, Martha; children, Debra Wilson, (husband, Tony R.), Donnie D. Whitesell, Jr., Pamela Whitesell, and Brian G. Whitesell; sisters, Mary (Ron) Warner and Jane Maddox; son-in-law, Robert Michael "Mike" Bergman; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Terri Denise Whitesell and Elaine Bergman as well as ten brothers and two sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.

Visitation will be Friday, April 27 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 in Gardens of Memory, Muncie with Military Rites by Delaware County Veterans Organization.

Memorials may be made to I.U. Ball Memorial Hospice.
