David Richard Schwarzkopf, 92, passed away January 14, 2021 in the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette.

He was born in Hartford City on October 30, 1928 to David and Mary (Downhour) Schwarzkopf and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1947 and then served in the Army.

He married Ada Jane Markin in Hartford City on Sept. 28, 1950 and moved to Lafayette in 1954. Her death occurred on December 29, 2011.

David worked for Norfolk &Western Railroad retiring in 1990.

He is survived by one daughter, Beth (George) Fields, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one son-in-law, Steve Franklin, and two brothers, Doyne (Charlotte) Schwarzkopf and Don (Carol) Schwarzkopf, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters, Barbara Franklin and Belinda Schwarzkopf, sister, Martel Todd, and brother, Dan Schwarzkopf.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2021 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St, Hartford City with Brian Waters officiating.

Friends may call from 12 noon - 1 p.m. Monday prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
