Obituary

David Paul Landon

HARTFORD CITY, IN—

David Paul Landon, 73, passed away Thursday evening, January 4, 2024 at his home, unexpectedly of natural causes.

Born on August 1, 1950 in Hartford City, he was the son of James William "Bill" Landon, Jr. and Mary (Gilbert) Landon, attending Hartford City High School, then proudly serving his country in the United States Army.

David was a loving and dedicated husband and father to his wife and children.  A selfless and hardworking man, willing to help anyone in need.  A man of integrity and high moral character, he was an amazing role model for his children and grandchildren.  He married Carol Ann Poling in Upland, on June 29, 1974.  He adored his wife and loved her unconditionally.

David had a wonderful sense of humor and was quick to make you laugh.  He had the infectious laugh and the eternal smile to go with it.  He loved spending weekends at Tippy Lake, with his family and friends. He put his family first and would be there at the drop-of-a-hat, anytime he was needed.

He had a mechanical wizardry, having the ability to tinker and fix and repair anything.  David spent many hours working on anything from tractors, cars, diesel motors, weed eaters, dirt bikes and 4-wheelers.  He retired from Hartford Concrete Products, where he was a mechanic, then later a truck/delivery driver.

He leaves behind his wife of nearly fifty years, Carol; daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Thomas; son, Paul David Landon; His four grandchildren:  Quinten Paul Howard, Jenna Suzanne Thomas (Mel), Kayla Nicole Laudenbacher (Thad) and Keshia Ann Locke (fiancé Andrew); four great-grandchildren:  Haleigh Kolp, Hunter Kolp, Hank Locke and Bostin Laudenbacher.  He also leaves behind a brother, Thomas Landon of Idaho as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siter and her husband: Margie and Max Twibell, brother, George Landon and sister-in-law, Peggy Landon.

Services are at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10th in Waters Funeral Home, Hartford City, with Pastor Troy Kaufman of the Lighthouse Church presiding.  Burial follows at Gardens of Memory in Muncie, with military rites rendered by the United States Army and the Delaware County Veterans Organization.
