Cody A. Thornburgh

Cody A. Thornburgh, 33, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his home in Marion, after a recent illness.

Born in Muncie on October 21, 1990, he grew up in Yorktown and was a 2009 graduate of Yorktown High School.  He was employed at and had faithfully served Atlas Foundry for over fourteen years.

Cody loved hunting, skateboarding, reading and being outside. He shot a 7-point buck a three months ago, on his birthday, with bow and arrow.  His greater passion was fishing. He spent as much time as he could on the water, having a stand-up kayak to enable fly-fishing.  Cody was self-taught at fly-fishing, which became a greater passion of his.

He leaves behind his mother and step-father, Diana and Gary Irwin of Grant County; his father, John Thornburgh; sister, Casey (Brad) Condit; step-sister, Brin (Justin) Kalley; grandmother, Teresa Pinkerton and his beloved dog, Max.

Cody is preceded into eternal rest by his maternal grandparents, Hollis and Clara Bilbrey, to who he was especially close to. Additionally, his uncle Charles "Chuck" Bilbrey and grandfather David Shanks preceded him as well.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 27th in Waters Funeral Home 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.  Burial immediately follows at Eaton Union Cemetery, Eaton, IN.  Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 26th from 4 – 8 P.M. and an hour prior to the funeral on Saturday, at the funeral home.
