Betty Jean Warren, 90, passed away, Saturday afternoon, July 17, 2021, at Bridgewater Centre in Hartford City.
Born in Marion, Indiana, November 5, 1930, she was the eldest of five daughters born to Earl and Bernice (Bailey) Warren. She attended school in Marion, Indiana and Blackford County and formerly attended the Bethel Center Church of the Brethren.
Betty Jean provided childcare for many years. Her love of children was exhibited to her nieces and nephews, as she was an important figure in their lives as well. She had a passion for costume jewelry, embroidery, card games and playing bingo. A fondness for all canines, Betty Jean never met a dog she didn't like.
She leaves behind two sisters: Ada Mae Sluder and Allie Lee (Leroy) Huckleberry, all of Hartford City; nephews and nieces: Michael (Kathi) Sluder, Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Terry Stockton (Alice), Milton, OH, Susan (Dan) Soloman, Aberdeen, MD and Judy Phillips of Muncie. Also surviving are several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father on October 26, 1995; her mother, twenty-three years to the day, July 17, 1998; her two sisters and brothers-in-law: Roxie and Frank Hillenberg and Crystal and Ralph Stockton. Her niece, Kathy A. Gregg, died December 16, 2008.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 23, 2021 in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Rev. Steve High presiding. Burial will be in the Hartford City Cemetery following services. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon, until service time Friday, at the funeral home.
