Barbara J. Shelton, 77, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 19, 2018 with her family at her side.

The daughter of Elbert and Eunice (Hall) Pryor, Barbara was born on August 28, 1940 in Robbins, Tennessee.

Barbara graduated from Robbins High School in 1957 and earned her nursing degree from Fort Sanders Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1961.

She was a registered nurse at Blackford County Hospital, Head Nurse at Ball Memorial Hospital and also at LaRue Carter Hospitals of Pendleton and New Castle. She retired at age 72 and enjoyed genealogy with her church.

She will be missed by her children: William "Bill" Shelton, John Shelton (Jennifer Parrish), James Shelton, and Robert "Bobby" Shelton (Cindy); a brother, Gary Pryor (Kathy Shoemaker); her sister, Gail Lewellen, eight grandchildren: Kristy McCaffery, Trey Shelton, Britney (Jay) Johns, Latasha Shelton (Kelby Cameron), Sadie Shelton, Sara Shelton, Noelle Huxhold, Israel Huxhold and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters: Joan Eskew and Carol Allen, her adopted son, Mick Sherman and two brothers-in-law, Gene Lewellen and Bill Allen.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4800 W. Robinwood Dr., Muncie, with Bishop Justin T. Sorenson presiding. Burial will follow at Eaton Union Cemetery.

Visitation for friends and family will be on Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time at the church.
