M. Bruce Althouse, 75, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Colonial Oaks Healthcare, Marion, after an extended illness.

He was born June 30, 1943 in Marion to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Althouse and graduated from Marion High School in 1961.

Bruce began his first job at Munson Pontiac of Marion, where he was the body shop manager. Then, he was employed at Twin City Chevrolet in Gas City as their auto collision repair manager, before coming to Hartford City to manage Bauer Chevrolet's auto body shop.
Bruce then became the owner/operator of Althouse Auto Body for over thirty years on Hartford City's north side of town.

A former member of the Blackford Country Club, Bruce was also a member of the AmVets, American Legion, the Moose Lodge of Gas City and also a member of the Cushman Convention, where he'd received a 10-year pin.

He leaves behind his wife of over thirty years, Debra Althouse; his children, Rob Althouse (Mary), Sandi Pattison (Ronnie) and Darren Fuller (Stacey); three sisters: Jane Ann Bowling, Pam Jones (Carl) and Kathy Dixon (Tom) and a sister-in-law, Pamela Althouse; seven grandchildren: Julene Fiene, Monica Benfield (Johnny), Chelsea Hall (David), Alexis Althouse, Mackenzie "Kenzie" Benfield, Darren "Hoot" Fuller, Jr. and Chandler Wise and two great-grandchildren, Lane Humes and Jayden Benfield.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Walter "Wally" Althouse and a brother-in-law Casey Bowling.

The family wants to send a special thank you to Jim Hall, Bruce's "right-hand man" and best friend for over 60 years.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, Jan. 26th at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Jim Alexander presiding. A reception/luncheon will follow at the American Legion, 205 E. Washington St., Hartford City.

Visitation for friends and family will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon, Saturday at the funeral home.
